Did you know that 8 out of 10 women take care of their facial skin daily in KSA? As the skincare market experiences significant growth worldwide, with an increasing focus on healthier skin and rising awareness of skincare practices, we delved into the Saudi market to understand the unique needs and preferences of Saudi women.

Analysis reveals a strong emphasis on facial skincare, with 8 out of 10 women taking care of their facial skin daily. The majority (78%) report following a specific skincare routine, whether in the morning, at night, or both. This demonstrates that Saudi women understand the benefits of maintaining a consistent skincare regimen.

In Saudi Arabia, 41% of women say they have a combination skin. Oily skin comes next at 22%, followed by normal skin at 21%.

The most common concern among women is under-eye dark circles, with 45% mentioning it. Following that are blackheads at 38% and dark spots at 33%. Interestingly, younger people from Gen Z seem to have more concerns about issues like dark spots, blackheads, and enlarged pores compared to older generations. One reason could be that Gen Z has more access to information and social media, which makes them more aware of these skin problems.

While examining the specific skincare concerns among interviewed women, it was equally important to understand the products they use to address these issues. It’s clear that hydration and cleansing are key focuses. Moisturizer tops the list of skincare products at 82%, with cleanser usage following closely at 67%. Interestingly, makeup remover use sits at nearly 60%.

While sunscreen adoption is at 55%, the importance of raising awareness about sun protection is crucial, especially in a sunny region like Saudi Arabia.

Saudi women are increasingly conscious of ingredients when choosing facial skincare products. A significant 55% prioritize organic and natural ingredients, reflecting a growing awareness of the potential benefits of natural formulations. Additionally, half of the sample opt for skincare products that are free of chemicals such as parabens, fragrances, and allergens.

Prior to purchasing their skincare products, Saudi women often seek professional advice. Half of those interviewed turn to dermatologists, while 41% consult pharmacists for guidance. The reliance on experts like pharmacists is reflected in the fact that nearly 9 out of 10 women purchase their skincare products in physical stores. It’s also interesting to note that only 27% of women are influenced by beauty bloggers and influencers on social media. This finding stands in contrast to the global trend where online figures have a big impact. It suggests that Saudi women prefer getting skincare information from more reliable and professional sources.

Interviewed women not only understand their skin issues but also appear to be aware of how lifestyle habits affect their skin. Nearly 70% of women recognize the importance of diet for maintaining healthy skin. Additionally, nearly 3 out of 5 women acknowledge the influence of sleep (65%) and stress (63%) on their skin. Therefore, drinking plenty of water and getting enough rest emerged as crucial factors. 78% prioritize staying hydrated, and 66% consider adequate sleep essential for maintaining healthy skin.

Dietary practices also add to the pull. Almost half of the respondents (46%) state that they limit sugar intake to maintain healthy skin.
