CG RACING END ROUND ONE OF THE 2017 ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 2 MAJOR RUNNERS-UP VICTORIES

Newly launched dedicated female team “CG Racing Angles” completes their maiden race

CG Racing entered into the 2017 endurance racing season-starter with 4 teams (CG Racing Pro, CG Racing 1, CG Racing 2, as well as the latest addition to the squad “CG Racing Angles” – A dedicated contingent of female drivers.
Fresh from its 2016 Pro and overall Championship triumph, CG Racing Pro sent a message early on to its rivals that the team was ready to defend its title by topping timing screens in the morning. Alban Varutti of CG Racing Pro nailed a best qualifying lap time of 1:12.442, just 0.027 seconds ahead of Dubai Falcon Racing Team, while Batelco Racing Drag965 secured third place on the grid.
In the opening laps of the 12 hour race, CG Racing Pro made good use of pole position and jumped straight into the lead. The team went-on strong to retain their dominance for nearly the entire first half of the race. The second half however, witnessed the defending champions facing a number of challenges and eventually losing their frontrunner position.
Pit strategy came into play around the 6-hour mark and CG Racing Pro was down in fourth place, but ihad taken one more pit stop than the karts ahead. The pit stops eventually evened out with only 30 minutes left to go in the race and CG Racing Pro moved up into second place, only 47 seconds behind Batelco Racing Drag965. The final stint driver Alban Varutti tried to close the gap but remained 40.704 seconds behind Batelco. At midnight on Saturday (Feb 11), CG Racing Pro claimed the runners-up second place positions in both the Professional and Overall categories.
In the highly contested corporate championship, Cg Racing 1 place in a notable performance as well and ended up with the 2nd place category prize, behind Team Emirates. They also collected the 4th place Nations Cup award.
Sister team CG Racing 2 also passed the 12 hour endurance test placing in as the 4th place winners in the corporate category.
The maiden race for CG Racing Angels signaled a great start for the pioneering all-female team, who are sure to make their mark on the Kartdrome and Endurance Racing circuit in the very near future.
Round 2 of the 2017 endurance racing championship is slated to be held on April and will feature another highly competitive 12-hour run.
